Say it out loud. Steady listens, learns you session by session, and practises with you until the loop loses its grip.
A practice companion. Not a therapist, not a diagnosis, not an emergency service.
What Steady is for
If your own head is the hard part of the day, this is built for you.
Thoughts that loop and take over the day
Checking, counting, and other rituals you cannot stop
Asking for reassurance over and over
Rumination and the 1am spiral
You talk it through and practise a steadier response, using exposure-based practice methods with a strong evidence base.
What Steady works on
Your problem on the left. What Steady does in the middle. Where it leaves you on the right.
The problemWhat Steady doesThe result
A thought takes over the whole day
One intrusive thought lands. You argue with it and it only gets louder.
You say it out loud and name the trigger, the thought, and the fear under it
Naming it takes the charge out of it
The thought loses its grip and the day is yours again.
Negative thinking on repeat
Your mind narrates the worst version of everything. You did it wrong, it will go badly, you are not enough.
You catch the running commentary and say it out loud
You practise letting a thought be a thought, not a verdict
The voice gets quieter and you stop taking every thought as fact.
What if something happens to someone you love
A what if about your family or your partner lands, and your mind plays out the worst to try to keep them safe.
You name the fear out loud instead of checking or asking for reassurance
You practise letting the uncertainty sit, without the mental ritual
You care about them just as much, without the fear running the day.
Checking one more time, every time
The door, the stove, the message. Relief lasts a minute, then the doubt is back.
You meet the urge without doing the ritual
You let the discomfort rise and fall on its own
One check is enough. The habit fades.
Always asking, are you sure?
Reassurance feels good for a second, then it feeds the doubt for a week.
Steady never answers with reassurance
You practise sitting with not knowing
You stop feeding the doubt, so it stops running the day.
Googling every symptom
A small twinge turns into an hour of searching, and every result feels like proof of something serious.
You notice the sensation without reaching for the search bar
You practise leaving the question open instead of chasing certainty
A twinge stays a twinge, and the search loop loses its pull.
Replaying an awkward moment
One thing you said hours ago plays on a loop, and your brain treats it like an emergency.
You say the memory out loud and let the cringe be there
You practise dropping the replay instead of reviewing it again
The moment shrinks back to its real size and lets you move on.
Bracing for bad news
You scroll for one more update, half sure something terrible is about to happen.
You name the dread and step back from the endless scroll
You practise sitting with not knowing what tomorrow holds
The dread settles, and your attention comes back to right now.
Thinking in circles at midnight
Forty tabs open. Mental review that feels useful and never ends.
You split a real problem from spinning on it
You pick one small action instead
The spiral ends in a step, not more searching.
The programme
One step at a time, at your pace. You learn first, map your own thinking, then practise once you are ready.
Learn
Introduction
The loop, hidden compulsions, rumination, and reassurance, in plain words, with room for your questions.
Know you
Get to know you
Your life, your support, your strengths and history, so the work fits you.
Map
Build your loop map
Trigger, thought, feared meaning, the urge, your response, the quick relief, and the real cost, written in your words.
Ready
Check fit and readiness
A calm check of safety, fit, and support before anything harder. Saying yes to Steady is never saying yes to practice.
Practise
Supported practice
Short, chosen steps with the ritual left out, and pause or stop always one word away.
Keep going
Generalise and maintain
Widen it into everyday life, plan for slip days, and keep a plan that is yours.
Practice stays locked until you finish a six session baseline and every safety step.
How it works
You talk out loud
No forms and no typing. You speak, Steady listens, and it answers in a warm human voice.
A real conversation
Steady replies in the moment, at a natural pace, not a box waiting for a prompt.
Your pace, your say
Nothing starts until you say start. Say pause, stop, or red light at any point.
Yours to keep
Your map and memory are yours to read, fix, export, or delete whenever you want.
The voice, and the words
Steady speaks in a natural voice, warm and unhurried. The one thing it will never do is reassure you. Reassurance feels good for a second and keeps the loop alive. Sitting with the maybe is the practice.
The loop
A trigger, a thought, a compulsion, a moment of relief, and then it comes back a little stronger.
Compulsion
Anything you do to make the discomfort go away, like checking, asking, or reviewing it in your head. It feeds the loop.
Pure O
OCD where the compulsions happen inside your head, with nothing to see on the outside.
ERP
Exposure and response prevention. You meet the thought and leave the compulsion out. It is the most-studied approach for looping thoughts.
Mapping
Naming your trigger, thought, and habit, so the loop stops feeling like it is you.
Reassurance
A compulsion wearing a friendly face, which is why Steady will not give it.
